The Experience

At Ocean Grill, we dress casual and comfortable. We encourage all of our guests to dress for relaxation and exploration! Guests must board and exit our water taxi onto a wooden dock, can choose to walk to the beach or hike up into the jungle, and can go swimming in the crystal-clear Pacific ocean or lounge out on the beach. Please, bring your bathing suit, a towel, sunscreen, and bug spray!

Ocean Grill serves primarily grilled foods with a combination of mouthwatering sauces, side dishes, and desserts. To learn more, please check out our menu.

We offer our guests the opportunity to enjoy a variety of activities once they arrive; however, all of these activities must be planned for in advance. Please contact us upon placing your reservation, or within 48 hours of your reserved seating time, to schedule any extra activities.

We offer: kayaking, snorkeling, fishing trips, and more!

Our most beloved guest greeter, Wilson, is a gentle giant. A Great Dane who has never left the sublime living quarters of Ocean Grill, Wilson is a constant and joyful presence at the restaurant.

If you have dog allergies, please consult your doctor (and take any prescribed allergy medications) before placing a reservation and arriving at Ocean Grill.

If you do not like dogs then Ocean Grill is not a place for you.

Ocean Grill offers wedding goers the experience of a lifetime! With a naturally stunning landscape, crystal-clear teal blue ocean, a custom catered menu, charming staff, and charismatic architecture, we provide the perfect fairytale paradise setting for a tropical wedding. Please contact us directly to discuss an opportunity to host your wedding at Ocean Grill.

We do not offer any specific vegetarian or vegan menus; however, we do have some dishes that could count as vegetarian. Please take a look at our menu.

Ocean Grill is the perfect setting for any special event! We’ve done weddings, family gatherings, group excursions, business luncheons, and then some! Please contact us directly to discuss how we can host your special event today!

We advise our guests to bring with them three items outside of their usual dining necessities: sunscreen, a bathing suit, and a towel. Otherwise, and if uninterested in swimming on our secluded beach, Playa Colomitos, you do not need to bring anything but your wallet and an empty stomach.

No, children under the age of 14 are strictly prohibited from experiencing Ocean Grill. We, and our guests, highly value a mature, relaxing atmosphere. Please respect this rule and keep all children under the age of 14 at home.

Ocean Grill is open Wednesday through Monday, and closed all day on Tuesday.

Ocean Grill is open between the hours of 11 am and 5 pm. We offer seating times specifically starting at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm. Reservations can only be placed for these seating times.

Ocean Grill is only accessible by one of two ways: boat or hike. You must first drive roughly 30 minutes South of Puerto Vallarta, through the lush tropical Puerto Vallartan jungle on Highway 200, down to Boca de Tomatlan, where you can choose to either catch the Ocean Grill water taxi, or hike in to the restaurant from Boca.

Cab fare from Puerto Vallarta to Boca de Tomatlan, as of 2013, should be roughly $250 pesos.

The drive from Puerto Vallarta to Boca de Tomatlan is roughly 30 minutes, depending on daily traffic. It takes you along Highway 200, the only major road to and from Puerto Vallarta, through vine-tangled jungles and lightly touched Mexican countryside. With cascading waterfalls along the roadside and charming, untouched small villages along the way, the drive to Boca is a picturesque glance into hidden local villages. To get to Boca de Tomatlan from Puerto Vallarta, you can hire a taxi or take the bus (assuming you do not have your own vehicle in PV). The bus ride takes about 30-35 minutes, depending on traffic, and a taxi ride takes about 20 minutes. You can catch either, a taxi or the bus, from Downtown Puerto Vallarta.

The Ocean Grill water taxi picks up guests at the Boca de Tomatlan pier. It arrives at the pier only three times a day, once for each dining experience. For example: 11am diners should arrive at the pier at 10:50am, 1pm diners should arrive at 12:45pm, and 3pm diners should arrive at 2:45pm to avoid missing the water taxi. If you do miss the Ocean Grill water taxi, please get a Boca de Tomatlan water taxi to bring you to the restaurant. They charge roughly $20 pesos for the boat ride.

The Ocean Grill water taxi arrives in Boca de Tomatlan Wednesday through Monday at 10:50am for all 11am reservations, 12:45pm for all 1pm reservations, and 2:45pm for all 3pm reservations.

The boat ride from Boca de Tomatlan to Ocean Grill is a mere five minutes. It’s a slow, peaceful ride on gentle waves, with quaint cliff-side homes adorning the lush jungle landscape.

The water taxi fare for a boat from Boca de Tomatlan to Ocean Grill is roughly $20 pesos, as of 2013.

The hike to Ocean Grill from Boca de Tomatlan is roughly 30-40 minutes. It has a lot of stone steps, semi-steep hills, and is pathed entirely in the middle of the jungle. Many of our patrons, both young and aged, thoroughly adore this hiking trail; however, there are a fair few that find it rigorous and exhausting. Please note the hiking trail is not for everyone and should only be embarked upon by those who enjoy a nice, sweaty trek through the jungle. Don’t forget to bring your bug spray and water bottle!

Yes! Just let the staff at Ocean Grill know when you’re ready to head back to Boca de Tomatlan and we’ll get the water taxi fired up!

At this time, Ocean Grill accepts cash only. We prefer Mexican pesos, but will accept US dollars if need be.

We operate by reservations only. Walk-in’s are accepted, but only when space is available.

To ensure Ocean Grill that your reservation will be honored, and in order for us to hold your seat, Ocean Grill requires a $25 USD deposit, per person, upon placing a reservation. This amount will be refunded back to your PayPal account upon your arrival to the restaurant.

THIS IS ONLY APPLICABLE DURING HIGH SEASON (NOVEMBER-APRIL) DURING LOW SEASON (MAY-OCTOBER) NO DEPOSIT REQUIRED.

If, for whatever reason, you need to cancel your reservation, you must do so 48 hours before the reserved seating time otherwise your deposit will be forfeit. If you cancel 48 hours or more in advance, we will refund your full deposit. Same policy applies for changes in your reservation.

If you are late for the Ocean Grill water taxi you will have to take one of the Boca de Tomatlan water taxis. They’re fee is roughly $20 pesos for the ride. Please note that we have a 20 minute tolerance. No refunds will be issued if late 20 minutes or more.

Please check our Facebook page on the day of your reservation to see if Ocean Grill has been closed for the day due to poor weather conditions. You will have two options: a) reschedule for a later date, or b) get a refund of your deposit. Please contact the restaurant to suggest a reschedule or a refund in such a case.

Because of our unique location, Ocean Grill is not handicap accessible. We apologize for this inconvenience.
